Social Media Guidelines & Incident Reports

Social Media Guidelines

Social media is a powerful tool, but referees must use it responsibly to maintain professionalism and avoid conflicts. These guidelines apply to all refereeing community members (AdABL, active/non-active referees, commissioners) across all platforms.

  • Promote Basketball Wisely: Use social media to support the sport, but always apply common sense when posting.
  • Avoid Bias: Do not post or comment on clubs, teams, or basketball entities to prevent suspicions of partiality.
  • Be Accountable: Your actions online reflect on you and your colleagues. Think about the impact of your posts.
  • Remember Permanency: Once posted, content can be permanent—even if deleted quickly.
  • Represent Professionally: Even personal posts may be seen as representing AdABL. Maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Pause Before Posting: Always think carefully before sharing information or images, whether during competitions or not.

Thank You!

Incident Reporting

  • Contact for Help: For assistance, contact any member of the Referee Commission 🔗. Contact details are available on the Site interactif 🔗.
  • Report Submission: Send completed reports to incident@flbb.lu.
  • Writing Guidelines:
    • The incident report should be authored by the crew chief. Other referees involved should be listed as witnesses in the designated section. Only one comprehensive report should be created.
    • Incident reports must strictly present factual information without any speculation, opinions, or emotions. Referees are responsible for conveying the facts as they personally observed them.
    • Clearly explain to the FLBB the reasons for penalizing or ejecting a coach or player, and allow them to determine subsequent actions.
    • Focus solely on relevant incidents and avoid mentioning minor infractions unrelated to the main event.
    • The report should detail exactly what was said and by whom, including any offensive language used by coaches or players, as heard by the referee. If gestures were involved, describe them precisely (e.g., hand, arm, head movements) and indicate whom they were directed at, without exaggeration.
    • Avoid drafting the report in a state of anger. Ensure it is completed within 36 hours following the game. The report form can be accessed on our website at adabl.org/incident, with the file available at the bottom of the page.
    • Before submitting your final report, send it to incident@flbb.lu for review by the AdABL committee members.
